The DVDs are mostly
shot from the cab, but they also include footage taken
from a trailing guards van, and around the various yards visited. Many of the workings locations and lines are now
either gone entirely, or unrecognisable today.
Many
of this series of 10 DVDs include footage of Preston. Highlights for the
Preston enthusiast include a trip up the former Longridge Branch
to the Deepdale Coal Depot, via Miley Tunnel.

(mgrs, freightliners, log train, acid tanks, china clay, engineers
etc) and postal services with 20s on flasks and acid tanks and
many railtours. A variety of track machines can also be seen. |

fifth volume in the series ALONG LMS LINES, takes the story
further north along the West Coast main line and covers WIGAN to
Preston, Lancaster and Carnforth.
There are diversions to look at the East Lancashire line from
Preston Farington to ROSE GROVE, BLACKPOOL North on the Fylde, and
Morecambe.
Filmed in colour from 1965 to 1968 it is mainly about the end of
steam in the North West of England and so Stanier and Standard
locomotives predominate with Jubilees, Black 5s, 8Fs, 2-6-4 Tanks
and Britannias. |
